The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 41,090 in New Jersey on Monday, April 6, and exceeded 1,000 fatalities for the first time.
The total number of deaths caused by the virus statewide was listed at 1,003 on Monday, according to the Somerset County Department of Health website. Based on the number of confirmed cases, the percentage of fatalities is about 2.5, as calculated by this newspaper.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Somerset County. The number was listed at 879 on Monday - up from 793 Sunday - with a total of 30 fatalities.
In the Somerset Hills area, the total number of cases in Bernards Township rose from 37 on Friday to 60 on Monday, including one fatality, a 95-year-old woman at a retirement community.
Elsewhere in the Somerset Hills towns, the number of confirmed cases in Bernardsville rose from 18 on Friday to 24 on Monday.
In Bedminster, the number of cases rose from 12 on Friday to 17 on Monday. The number increased in Peapack-Gladstone from six Friday to 16 on Monday, while Far Hills remained at two.
The information for each town is updated online daily by the county health department.
In other nearby towns, the number of confirmed cases in Warren Township rose from 25 on Friday to 32 Monday, while the number in Watchung rose from 19 to 28 in that same time period.
Numbers for other county towns on Monday include: Franklin Township, 211 cases with seven fatalities; Bridgewater Township, 98 cases and seven fatalities; Hillsborough, 76 cases and two fatalities; Branchburg Township, 34 cases; North Plainfield, 74 cases and six fatalities; Somerville, 28 cases and one fatality; Montgomery, 30 cases; Green Brook, 44 cases and two fatalities; Bound Brook, 35 cases and one fatality; and Manville, 34 cases.
