The 2021 Greg Weemhoff Geauga County Crop Walk will take place Sept. 26 at Geauga Park District’s Big Creek Park, 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon, at the Aspen Grove Shelter.

Registration and donation drop off will begin at 1 p.m. with the Walk set to begin at 2.  As at past walks, there will be an After Walk picnic and teams/walkers are asked to bring beverage, dessert, or a side dish to add to the picnic, according to a news release.

Those who do not wish to walk can come and cheer the walkers on and take part in the picnic.

Social distancing will be considered and available at this outdoor event. Those who have coronavirus symptoms or feel otherwise ill, are asked not to attend this event.

This walk is named for Greg Weemhoff, who is now in his 42nd year of participation in this event.

Donations help bring food security to Geauga County and around the world. Projections are that 42 million people in the United States, 800 million around the world,  will experience food insecurity this year, according to the release.

The definition of food insecurity is not having enough food for the next meal or not knowing where the next meal is coming from.
