No trace of tranquillizers in T1 organs: Forensic report

NAGPUR: The much-awaited forensic report of tigress T1, which is one of the crucial evidences in the case, traces the untraceable. The tranquillizers was not found in any organ. It implies that the dart was planted and not shot.
The report, a copy of which is in possession of TOI, says analysis detects tranquillizers ketamine and xylazine in exhibit no.s 3a, 3b and 4 are positive.
However, wildlife vets who have seen the report say xylazine is an analogue of clonidine and an agonist at the a2 class of adrenergic receptor. It is used for sedation, anaesthesia, muscle relaxation, and analgesia in animals such as horses, cattle and other non-human mammals.
Veterinarians also use xylazine as an emetic (to induce vomiting), especially in cats. Ketamine is a dissociative anaesthetic used in human anaesthesia and veterinary medicine. Dissociative drugs are hallucinogens that cause a person/animal to feel detached from reality and it is next to impossible to detect it in muscles after 28 days.
Hence, that is why the meat sample withholding period is 28 days after using them. Sources say they started analysis of it on November 26 to prove it was detected before 28 days. T1 was shot on November 2.
Forensic experts say though anaesthetic drugs used in it is surprising, the report reads that analysis started on November 26 and ended on December 5. The report comes after the National Tiger Conservation Authority committee submitted its report giving enough room for more doubts.
If the lab took less than 10 days for testing the sample why did it delay in starting especially because the sample was sent to it a month ago. The report does not mention crucial points like was it qualitative or quantitative analysis that was done and which method was used in the analysis.
