Tahira Kashyap Directs Neena Gupta in ‘Pinni’, Short Film Part of Guneet Monga’s ‘Zindagi inShort’

Tahira Kashyap returns to direction after 2 years, helms Neena Gupta starrer short film, Pinni

Battling cancer while juggling family responsibilities and a sparkling career is only possible if you are Tahira Kashyap who announced her return to direction this Monday with Pinni, a short film starring Neena Gupta in the lead. A part of Guneet Monga’s anthology series, Zindagi inShort, Pinni takes the legacy of Tahira’s “obsession with food” forward.

Shot in Mumbai within three days, Tahira could not contain her excitement as she shared the poster of Pinni on her Instagram handle. She added in the caption, “My obsession with food continues! After #toffee comes #pinni along with some bitter, sweet calories. Talking to a leading news agency, Tahira gushed, “I am really excited to direct this film. Not only do we have a very talented crew, the story as well is very interesting. Neena ji is a prolific actor and directing her is going to be a joy. I didn’t realise it until someone pointed out that it’s mostly a woman crew.”

The anthology series will feature seven short films contributed by directors Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, Punarvasu Naik, Vijayeta Kumar, Rakesh Sain, Gautam Govind Sharma, Smrutika Panigrahi and Vinay Chhawal. Gushing about her talented filmmakers, Guneet shared in an interview with PTI, “They are on the cusp of making a name for themselves and there cannot be a better opportunity for them than this (sic).”
