Schuylkill EMA buys an inflatable tent

The Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency has purchased an inflatable shelter for $7,875.

John Matz, county emergency management coordinator, said the approximately 12-by-20-by-8-foot-long shelter is coming out of the radiological fund. The purchase will primarily be used “in conjunction with nuclear power plant exercises,” he said, which are done every other year.

Schuylkill supports nearby counties when needed. Other uses are also possible.

“It’s not one of those little pop-up tents,” Matz said.

The white and blue structure that says Schuylkill County on it was ordered last week. Arrival is possible in four to six weeks.

It has the capability of connecting fans and other devices to it.

“It’s a functional tent,” he said.
