In need of more space, Guitar Lot has relocated to a new storefront on Mandan’s Main Street.
“The business itself is growing; more people are becoming aware,” said owner Chris McCrory. “I just want to keep building on what I have going.”
McCrory said the 100 Collins Ave. location is nearly double the 1,200 square feet he had in Bismarck. The extra room will allow him to carry more new and used guitars, amplifiers and equipment for sale.
“A big part of my business is buying and selling,” he said of the used equipment side of the store, which allows him to keep a wide variety of brands on hand.
McCrory also sells records, CDs and provides guitar lessons in store. With more space, he might consider expanding into other types of instruments in the future.
With the move, McCrory has made investments in the look of his store, too, including window murals.

New boutique
The Curvy Flamingo Boutique has opened a storefront in Mandan.
The store celebrated its grand opening last week at 500 W. Main St.
Owner Becky Freidt started selling clothing in 2016 online and at vendor shows.
“I had a lot of people wanting to try stuff on and the business grew and I just needed more space,” Friedt said.
She caters to plus-size women, offering her customers a larger selection of casual clothing than what’s available at other retailers. Her clothing starts at size 1X with the goal “to help all women look good and feel empowered regardless of clothing size.”
Store hours are noon to 7 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays or by appointment the rest of the week.
