Community Reformed Church to offer in-person, online worship options

CHARLEVOIX — Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix will offer three worship services on Sunday, March 28, including two with an in-person format as well as one to be offered online.

In-person services are scheduled for 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, 100 Oak St., Charlevoix. A mask is required to attend in-person worship.

Community Reformed also will live-stream an online service at 10 a.m. Sunday via its Facebook page. To join the the church on Facebook, search for “Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix” and like its page. Online worship can also be accessed by visiting the church’s website at www.communityreformed.net and clicking on the Facebook link for the online service.

The title of Sunday’s message is “Acceptable Sins: Not Gonna Lie,” based on Proverbs 12:22 and Matthew 16:13-17, 21-23. Community Reformed also will be celebrating the sacrament of Communion on Sunday, and asks participants to bring bread and juice with them to the service. Greensky Hill plans online services for Holy Week

CHARLEVOIX — Greensky Hill Indian United Methodist Church invites the community to celebrate Holy Week 2021 ‘’together apart” on Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/groups/173854422675352/.

The Rev. Jonathan Mays will conclude the Lenten series, “Holy Vessels: A Lenten Season of Recovery,” with an online Palm Sunday Service beginning at 9:57 a.m., Sunday, March 28. This service will include a Holy Week greeting from Bishop David Bard, songs and prayers in Anishinaabemowin and English, Pastor Sarah Sheaffer’s time for children, music by Sharon Osterhouse and a message from Matthew 9:1-8 entitled, “Holy, Wholly.”

The congregation is invited for fellowship every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. in a “Zoom Coffee Hour.” A Zoom invitation will be posted on the Facebook page following the service.

Greensky Hill’s Maundy Thursday service is scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday, April 1. Mays will introduce a 40-minute online service with Bishop Bard serving as worship leader, Charity Ben as liturgist and Parker Garman as music director.

The church also will offer a Good Friday service at noon on Friday, April 2. Mays will introduce a 20-minute online service with the Rev. Julie Liske serving as worship leader, Raj Wiener & Jay Makowski as liturgists and Eric Strand as music director. This meditative service faces the crucifixion through art from around the world, accompanied only by piano and scripture texts from Isaiah and John.

Until further notice, there are no in-person meetings or services at Greensky Hill.
