A plant electrician has died after sustaining an electrical shock at a mine preparation facility in Kanawha County.

Preliminary information indicates a plant electrician at Kanawha Eagle LLC South Hollow Preparation Plant died from injuries after receiving an electrical shock about 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training.

Inspectors from the state office are investigating.

Metro 911 said one man has been transported to the hospital after suffering from a possible electrical shock at a coal mine complex.

The incident was reported about 8:05 a.m. Wednesday at Kanawha Eagle in the 5700 block of Fields Creek in the Winifrede area.

No condition was immediately available.

Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance and West Virginia and federal mine inspectors responded.
