LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Small businesses across East Texas will soon have another option when it comes to providing affordable health insurance to its employees.

The Longview Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with United Healthcare to offer more health plan options to members of the partnership. The plans provide small businesses with the same type of flexibility in product choices and pricing that large employers currently experience.

More information about HealthyVIEW is provided below in a released from the Longview Chamber of Commerce:

HealthyVIEW of East Texas is an association health plan for small businesses (2-50 employees) who are members in good standing, created by the Longview Chamber of Commerce. Coverage for employees will begin November 1, 2018.

Under revised federal regulations, associations can offer health insurance to their member businesses. These new association health plans provide small businesses the same type of flexibility in product choices and pricing that large employers currently experience.

Participating businesses can choose from 20 unique Affordable Care Act-compliant plans, some of which will cost up to 15 percent less than Adjusted Community Rating equivalents in the market.

The Association Health plans feature:

  • 20 unique plans with national networks including PPO plans, Exclusive Provider Organization plans, Health Managed Organization plans;
  • Dental and vision plans;
  • A ChoicePlus network, which includes CHRISTUS-Good Shepherd Health Systems, Longview Regional Hospital and other providers nationwide for those who are traveling and for college students;
  • Wellness programs, including Real Appeal, an online weight-loss program, and Quit for Life, for tobacco cessation assistance.

“It allows the small businesses to pool their employee count to get their rates down, and to provide better products and service opportunities for their employees to choose from," said Kelly Hall, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce. “We’re providing something for our local businesses to sell, we’re providing a platform for small businesses to be more successful, and provide a better product for their employees; it’s a win-win.”
