Rent And Mortgage Assistance Offered By City: Coronavirus

The city of St. Petersburg offers grants to help residents pay utilities, rent and mortgage help in its Restart St. Pete toolkit.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Homeowners and renters whose finances have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic can now receive help with grants issued by the city of St. Petersburg.

This program is called Resources for Residents, and is a partnership between the city and local organizations to help residents get back on their feet. It is part of the toolkit in the Restart St. Pete series.

Renters whose incomes have been affected by the pandemic can receive assistance on rent and utilities through local non-profit organizations that the city has a partnership with, said a news release. For more information about this program, check out Rent Assistance.

Homeowners resource to help pay mortgage is through the Mortgage Payment Assistance Grant Program, which provides grants up to $8,000 to homeowners who are currently unemployed or underemployed as a result of the pandemic, and are behind on mortgage and utility payments. Other eligibility for this grant includes homeowners that are in jeopardy of future payment delinquency due to lost or diminished income. Other resources in the toolkit include childcare and summer camps, food resources and the Fighting Chance Fund, a resident and business grant program. The city said that any additional programs and resources will be added to the toolkit as they become available.
