Seven militia members of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), who were allegedly involved in 18 cases, were arrested in Mulugu district and explosive materials seized from their possession, police said on Tuesday, reports PTI.

Collectors in districts near Maharashtra and Karnataka have been asked to step up surveillance, in an attempt to prevent the spread of covid cases across the border. While neighbouring Maharashtra is recording upwards of 3,000 new cases daily, even Karnataka is seeing a surge in cases. Arrangements are being made for more testing and contact tracing in border districts. “Home isolation kits will be provided in these districts. Arrangements will be made at Gandhi Hospital, Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (TIMS) as well as Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) if the need arises,” said state health minister Eatala Rajender on Monday.

Telangana police teams will go to West Bengal to nab absconding accused, Sameer, who is the main agent acting between Bangladeshi clients and Bodhan-based recruitment agent, Parimal Bain. Apart from Sameer, police have also launched a manhunt to nab two others, including a ticketing agent from Mumbai and a visa provider based in Iraq. According to police, Parimal got clients from Shahnaj Pail alias Sabuj of Fataipur village in Nadia district of West Bengal. Police arrested Shahnaj and he confessed to have provided flight tickets for the people referred to him by Sameer to travel abroad after they obtain Indian passports through Parimal. “Shahnaj arranged flight tickets through his Mumbai-based associate Sadham Hussain and visas for the clients were arranged by Sameer through Manoj, a West Bengal native in Iraq,” said an investigator from RGI Airport police station.

A 65-year-old beggar was found dead near Ganesh temple in Barkatpura on Sunday. Narayanguda police received an alert from locals about the man lying dead on the road near Ganesh temple. The victim was clad in purple shirt and blue trousers. Police later found out that he was Govind, a footpath dweller. Cops suspect that he died due to ill-health. A case was registered under section 174 of CrPC.
