A one-year-old baby store in Lower Macungie Township has given birth to a new venture.

Hello Baby, which opened in April at 6636 Hamilton Blvd., in January debuted an off-shoot boutique, Parfait Kids, selling unique apparel, toys and gifts for children up to age 8 in a portion of the existing store.

“We still have a full showroom of cribs,” owner Nikki Brezack said. “We just split the store in half and kept the cribs, chairs and baby stuff on one side.”

Brezack decided to expand her original concept following regular requests from customers seeking clothing, accessories and toys for older children.

“Parents with multiple children and grandparents with multiple grandchildren would often say while shopping for a baby, ‘I wish you guys had bigger sizes because I also need clothes for a 5-year-old,’” Brezack said. “Or, they’d say something like, ‘I have a 2-year-old and 5-year-old and I want them to have matching dresses.’”

In addition to children’s clothing, Parfait Kids carries children’s shoes and accessories such as hats and sunglasses. Popular brands include Native shoes, Teeny Tiny Optics sunglasses, Snapper Rock sun protection swimwear and John Deere and Melissa & Doug toys.

More merchandise is expected to arrive over the next few weeks and Brezack is planning to host a grand opening celebration with giveaways, refreshments and more in late April or early May.

As part of the event, Parfait Kids will host a fashion show where children will model some of the store’s spring and summer fashions. Parents can enter their children, ages 2-8, during a casting call to be announced on the business’ Facebook page.

Hello Baby, selling eco-friendly nursery funiture as well as baby and toddler clothing, gifts and toys, also is planning to host a third Hello Mommy community event, noon to 3 p.m. April 7.

A free event for moms and expectant moms, Hello Mommy offers a “fun way to explore all things baby and kids in the Valley.”

About 20 local child- and parenting-related businesses and organizations, including daycares, pediatricians, photographers, FIT4MOM Lehigh Valley, Five Star Swim School, Lehigh Valley Breastfeeding Center, Lehigh Valley’s Find&GoSeek and Super Car Seat Geek, set up information tables at the store.

“There’s also food and beverages, giveaways where each company gives away products or services and a chance to meet other moms,” Brezack said. “So, as your children progress through life, you have different needs and resources that you would previously need to go out and hunt for, but we have all of them here together.”

Parfait Kids exterior signage will be installed adjacent to the Hello Baby signage in the coming weeks, Brezack said. Hours are the same as Hello Baby. Info: hellobabystores.com.
