BEACHWOOD, OH — SAW, Inc., which provides services for adults with developmental disabilities, is reopening five adult activity centers in Greater Cleveland, including its Beachwood location.

The centers began to reopen in late July with new cleaning and social distancing protocols. There have been no COVID-19 cases yet reported from a SAW facility.

“While we made a strong effort to continue serving individuals virtually through methods such as e-newsletters, social media, online events and therapy visits while the centers were closed, we are thrilled to be able to provide full services to new and returning participants in person now that we’re reopen,” said Judy Carey, CEO of SAW. “The employment opportunities, activities, and level of care our experienced staff can offer in person is unmatched and critical to bringing out the best in each person they work with. We are following all state and local healthcare guidance to ensure we can provide these essential services in the safest way possible.”

SAW facilities are being thoroughly cleaned twice a day and surfaces are being sanitized often. Everyone within the building must wear a mask and anyone entering the building, or leaving the building, must have their temperature taken.

To maintain social distancing, individuals are organized into groups of 10. Each group has its own entrance, exit, bathroom and pathway inside the building. The group must maintain its distance from each other and use their own supplies for each activity.

SAW staff have all been trained on COVID-19 protocols and a full-time nurse is on staff, the organization said.

The SAW locations in Beachwood, Parma, Maple Heights, Rocky River and Euclid are now open. However, the East Cleveland site remains closed for renovations.
