2 new coronavirus deaths in Volusia County, 9 reported in Florida
The state reported two new coronavirus deaths in Volusia County and none in Flagler County on Sunday.
Statewide, there were nine new virus-related fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths statewide to 13,459. Of these deaths, 13,296 were Florida residents and 163 were non-residents.
Volusia County now has 220 deaths and Flagler County's death toll remains at 23.
So far in September, Volusia County has reported 31 coronavirus deaths. Meanwhile, Flagler County has reported eight coronavirus deaths this month.
The state announced an additional 2,521 coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing the number statewide to 683,754.
Of the cases, 675,691 are Florida residents and 8,063 are nonresidents, according to FDOH.
The state's daily positivity rate, calculated by using the total number of people tested for the virus and the total number of people who have tested positive, was 4.62% Sunday.
For the past two weeks, the daily positivity rate in Florida has been below 6%. However, the daily positivity rates in Flagler County over the past two weeks have still exceeded 10% on some days and Volusia County has days that near 10%.
The overall positivity rate statewide was 13.4% Sunday, which exceeds the 10% target set nationwide to safely begin a phased-in reopening.
As of Sunday, 42,453 Florida residents had been hospitalized with COVID-19 and 5,102,203 had been tested for the virus.
