EDMOND

Genealogy meeting to explore animal history

FROM STAFF REPORTS
Amy Stephens

EDMOND — Animals have history, too.

"The Squawk, Meow and Roar of Animal Genealogy" will be presented by Amy Stephens during the Edmond Genealogical Society's meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1315 E 33 St.

Stephens, the exhibits coordinator at the Edmond Historical Society and Museum, will pull from her insights as a former zoo historian to delve into the research challenges involved when tracking down the life stories of animals big and small.

Stephens is the author of two award-winning zoo history books and more than 300 magazine articles. She also enjoys writing for the museum's new Histories and Mysteries blog.

Genealogical research assistance will be available at 5:30 p.m. before the meeting. For more information, go to www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~okegs/ or search Facebook: Edmond Genealogical Society (EGS).
