SAGINAW, MI - A line of severe thunderstorms that swept across the state dumped heavy rains areas of mid-Michigan, including Saginaw and Tuscola counties.
The National Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Saginaw and Tuscola Counties on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
According to the NWS, between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in both counties and additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. The excessive rainfall is expected to cause minor flooding as well as urban and small stream flooding.
The flood advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. in Saginaw County and until 9:45 p.m. in Tuscola County.
Locations that are expected to be impacted in Saginaw County include Saginaw, St. Charles, Freeland, Zilwaukee, Merrill, Bridgeport, Carrollton, Nelson, Swan Creek, Garfield, Arthur, Shields, Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, Hemlock, Buena Vista Township and Indiantown. As for Tuscola County, areas such as Caro, Cass City, Reese, Akron, Fairgrove, Gagetown, Ellington, Wilmot, Gilford, Colling, Colwood, Watrousville, Deford and Richville could see flooding.
