South Carolina DMV is closing offices and going to appointments amid coronavirus
Starting Monday, appointments will be required to complete in-person transactions at locations of the Department of Motor Vehicles that remain open across the state, according to the agency's website. The DMV will also close some offices, leaving one location open in each county and consolidating employees there.
Driving tests are suspended, but the motorcycle and commercial driver licensing tests will be available again starting Monday on a limited basis, a spokesperson said.
The moves come as the DMV continues to scale back operations amid the growing coronavirus pandemic.
"We need to protect our employees as well as our customers by limiting the amount of people who are going to be at branch offices at any given time," said SCDMV spokesperson Julie Roy.
The DMV location on Saluda Dam Road is the only office that will remain open in Greenville County. It will have appointments available Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Appointments can be made two weeks in advance, Roy said.

The Anderson location on Highway 29 Bypass North will also remain open and offer appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Employees will assist customers in 15-minute windows, and the number of daily appointments available will vary from branch to branch based on how many employees are available.
