Galacticos thrashed 10-man Ahlam Batelco 3-1 in Group Two of Nasser 9 Ramadan Football Tournament at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium..
The team has three spoints, same as defending champions Al Fakhar, who beat Al Wehda 3-2, but are on top on goal difference.
Abdullah Mohammed put Galacticos in front after 26 minutes while Abdullah bin Khalifa doubled the lead in the 63rd minute.
Ahlam Batelco’s chances of saving a point took a beating when they were reduced to 10 men after Adeel Hussain was shown the red card after two offences in the first-half.
But the red card did not deter the team spirit as Mahmood Mohammed scored in the 82 minute, providing an entertaining and intense end to the game.
Galacticos, however, did not take it lying down and replied with a third goal through Ahmed Al Seki, who scored from the penalty spot after sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Galacticos’ Abdullah Salim won the best player award.
In the second match, Al Fakhar found themselves trailing 1-0 after 14 minutes when Hussain Al Qassab opened the scoring for Al Wehda with a sublime solo effort.
Al Fakhar came close to equalising in the first-half, but were denied as Al Wedha goalkeeper saved Mahdi Humaidan’s close range shot.
After half-time, Al Fakhar continued to attack and immediately broke the solid defence of Al Wehda, thanks to Mahdi Abduljabar, who headed home from a tight angle.
The defending champions maintained the pressure and their efforts paid off when Abduljabar scored his second goal in the 52nd minute.
The lead, however, was short-lived as in a counter-attack Hassan Al Qassab of Al Wehda scored a stunning goal.
But Al Fakhar sealed victory in the dying minutes with Ali Al Sayyed Hani scoring the winner with an unstoppable header.
Al Fakhar’s Mahdi Humaidan won the best player award.
