Oregon coronavirus update, Sept. 21: 1,707 new cases, 30 new deaths

Oregon reports 1,707 new cases, 30 new deaths

Oregon has reported 1,707 new cases of COVID-19, and 30 new deaths.

That brings the state’s cumulative case count to 314,841, and the death toll to 3,624, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

Marion County reported 173 new cases. Polk County reported 56 new cases.

Other counties’ new cases were: Baker (18), Benton (18), Clackamas (110), Clatsop (15), Columbia (12), Coos (86), Crook (13), Curry (11), Deschutes (80), Douglas (85), Grant (29), Harney (34), Hood River (4), Jackson (76), Jefferson (17), Josephine (25), Klamath (83), Lake (22), Lane (157), Lincoln (19), Linn (46), Malheur (60), Morrow (7), Multnomah (86), Tillamook (5), Umatilla (134), Union (21), Wasco (34), Washington (100) and Yamhill (71).

There were 944 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 Tuesday, which is 24 fewer than on Monday. Of those, 264 were in intensive care and 161 were on ventilators.

Statewide, there are 59 available adult ICU beds out of 655 total (9% availability) and 347 available adult non-ICU beds out of 4,280 (8% availability).

Oregon has administered an average of 7,754 COVID-19 vaccine doses per day over the past week.

As of Tuesday, 2.47 million people in Oregon had completed a vaccine series, and 236,495 had received at least one dose.

OHA did not release details of the 30 new deaths reported Tuesday, which include three deaths in Marion County and one death in Polk County.

It did release details of the 25 deaths reported over the weekend. They include five deaths in Marion County:

  • A 91-year-old man from Deschutes County who tested positive on Sept. 2 and died on Sept. 14 at St Charles Bend Hospital. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • An 88-year-old man from Crook County who tested positive on Sept. 6 and died on Sept. 17 at St. Charles Bend Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 91-year-old woman from Clackamas County who tested positive on Sept. 3 and died on Sept. 15 at her residence. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 62-year-old man from Baker County who tested positive on Sept. 8 and died on Sept. 12 at his residence. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 77-year-old man from Deschutes County who tested positive on Aug. 27 and died on Sept. 18 at St. Charles Bend Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 50-year-old man from Douglas County who tested positive on Aug. 17 and died on Sept. 17 at Mercy Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 46-year-old woman from Douglas County who tested positive on Aug. 30 and died on Sept. 17 at Mercy Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • An 83-year-old man from Douglas County who tested positive on Aug. 25 and died on Sept. 17 at Mercy Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 70-year-old woman from Lincoln County who tested positive on Sept. 2 and died on Sept. 4. Location of death and presence of underlying conditions are being confirmed.
  • A 64-year-old man from Josephine County who first had symptoms on Sept. 3 and died on Sept. 12 at his residence. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 79-year-old man from Josephine County who tested positive on Sept. 4 and died on Sept. 15 at Providence Medford Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.
  • An 81-year-old man from Jackson County who tested positive on Sept. 5 and died on Sept. 16 at Providence Medford Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 57-year-old woman from Jackson County who tested positive on Sept. 1 and died on Sept. 17 at Providence Medford Medical Center. She had underlying conditions.
  • A 73-year-old man from Harney County who tested positive on Sept. 14 and died on Sept. 18 at Harney District Hospital. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 58-year-old woman from Linn County who tested positive on Sept. 7 and died on Sept. 14 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 70-year-old man from Marion County who tested positive on Aug. 26 and died on Sept. 15 at Salem Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 45-year-old woman from Marion County who tested positive on Sept. 6 and died on Sept. 16 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions.
  • An 80-year-old man from Marion County who tested positive on Sept. 2 and died on Sept. 13 at Salem Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 68-year-old man from Marion County who tested positive on Aug. 24 and died on Sept. 14 at Silverton Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 67-year-old woman from Marion County who tested positive on Aug. 26 and died on Sept. 13 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions.
  • A 64-year-old man from Union County who tested positive on Sept. 10 and died on Sept. 17 at Grande Ronde Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 94-year-old man from Washington County who tested positive on Aug. 23 and died on Aug. 28 at his residence. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • A 68-year-old man from Washington County who tested positive on July 26 and died on July 31 at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.
  • A 70-year-old woman from Washington County who tested positive on July 24 and died on Sept. 11 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. She had underlying conditions.
  • A 64-year-old woman from Washington County who tested positive on May 30 and died on July 1 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. She had underlying conditions.
