'Grey's Anatomy' Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over The Show's Shocking Announcement

Season 18 of Grey's Anatomy is right around the corner, but it looks like the established medical drama still has some surprises in store for its loyal audience! When the show returns on September 30, one of its biggest stars will be coming back to Grey Sloan Memorial. That's right, Kate Walsh will be donning her white coat again to reprise her role as Dr. Addison Montgomery.

Addison first made her presence known all the way back in season one when she was revealed to be married to Derek Shepherd and made things very uncomfortable for a young Meredith Grey. Kate Walsh starred on the show until she left to lead the Grey's spinoff, Private Practice.

The Grey's Anatomy Instagram account made the announcement with a video of a smiling Kate Walsh saying, "Well, well, well, would you look who it is, my loves. That's right, Dr. Addison Montgomery is coming back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital." She teased fans, "Just wait til you see what she has in store!"

The video was captioned, "I need the day off. For THIS. NEWS!!! 🤯🤩😭" and fans certainly agreed! One wrote, "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I'M CRYING." Another said, "I'M HYPERVENTILATING." Another viewer wrote, "Someone get me a crash cart I’m not breathing." Someone check on these fans, STAT!

Kate surprised her Instagram fans with a "Questions I Get Asked" video and answered the question "Will you ever come back to Grey's Anatomy?" with a big "YES" (and some dance moves). Ellen Pompeo commented, "Lets give them what they want…..quality tv drama 😂😂😂" and series creator Shonda Rhimes chimed in with "WELCOME HOME!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️" and "It’s the lab coat for me 😭😭😭"

We can't wait to see what kind of trouble Addison stirs up this season!
