A Running List of Arizona Events Canceled Due to the Coronavirus

Around the world, governments and organizations are canceling big public gatherings for fear of spreading the new coronavirus. Events are also getting canceled in Arizona, where health officials have detected 13 cases of COVID-19.

Here's a running list, which we will continuously update. Are we missing an event? Let us know by emailing [email protected].

Record stores Zia and Stinkweeds are moving to an online only model for the next several weeks. Check their Facebook pages for details.



Changing Hands locations and the First Draft Book Bar in Phoenix are closed through Tuesday, March 31. They will offer online shopping and curbside pickup during this time.


Our staff of 60 booksellers and bartenders will be fully paid during this period.

Arizona Bike Week, originally scheduled from April 1 to 5, has been postponed. New dates have yet to be announced.



Gila River Hotels & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass, Lone Butte, and Vee Quiva - are closing for two weeks starting March 18 at 4 a.m.

Guests currently staying at either hotel property will be contacted for relocation desires or refunds. Those who have booked future hotel reservations or events with Wild Horse Pass in Chandler and Vee Quiva in Laveen can contact 1-800-WINGILA for details about rescheduling or refunds.

ASU Art Museum has decided to temporarily pause its offerings to the public at its two locations, beginning March 17, until further notice.

During this time we are exploring innovative ways to make our collection available in interesting ways. Look forward to updates on how you can engage with the museum during this event.

The Arizona FuelFest, originally scheduled for April 4, will now take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

If you booked a reservation with our hotel partner at Gila River, they've agreed to transfer your reservation upon request. Please contact them to update your stay.

The KNIX BBQ & Beer Festival originally scheduled for March 28 and the Rib Fest Throwdown scheduled for April 25 and 26 have been postponed. All ticket purchases remain valid and will be applied to the rescheduled events.

ZapCon 2020, scheduled to take place from April 25 to 26 at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, has been canceled.


Arizona Opera’s upcoming production of Ariadne auf Naxos, scheduled for April performances in both Phoenix and Tucson, has been cancelled. All other events have been cancelled through mid-May.

For this reason, as painful as it is for everyone involved, we stand fully behind the guidance of the White House and the leadership of our state in order to support the containment of the COVID-19 virus.

Harkins Theatres and Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas have temporarily suspended operations.


Scottsdale Fashion Week, originally scheduled from March 26 to 29, will be postponed to September 24 to 27.


The Cosanti Foundation has made the following operational changes at both Arcosanti and Cosanti, effective until March 29, or until further notice:

- Cancellation of all events, programs, performances, and educational workshops at Cosanti, Arcosanti, and any Cosanti Foundation-sponsored programs at off-site locations and refunding tickets and registrations accordingly

- Cancellation of all daily tours, group tours, and school tours at Arcosanti and Cosanti - No food and beverage service in the Arcosanti Cafe

- Arcosanti is honoring all existing overnight reservations for our guest rooms and AirBnb suites through April 30th. However, we are not accepting any new reservations at this time. Guests who proceed with their planned stay at Arcosanti will have limited access to areas on the grounds and within the interior public spaces at Arcosanti.

- The Cosanti Gallery will remain open to the public, while encouraging social distancing from others - The Gallery at Arcosanti in the Visitor Center will remain open to the public, encouraging the same social distancing

- Arcosanti visitor access to spaces on the grounds is limited to the Gallery, public restrooms in the Visitor Center, Cafe gathering room, and outdoor Visitor Trail, encouraging the same social distancing

Phoenix Art Museum is closing its galleries, retail space, and research library until April 6.

Although our physical doors will temporarily close, we will commence new efforts to open our virtual doors more widely.

The Rebel Lounge is closed until the end of March. All concerts that were originally scheduled to take place in March at The Rebel Lounge have been canceled or postponed.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the closing of the Rebel Lounge while we all grapple with COVID-19. Following the Arizona’s Statewide recommendation on cancelling events we will be closed through March, and possibly much longer.

One of the things we all love about live music is its ability to bring us together in hard times. We all know the joy a great concert can bring at the end of a hard week. How a great song can bring a smile to a crying face. We know how important community is and creating a place where everyone feels safe to come together has always been one of our main goals at Rebel. It is hard for all of us to wrap our head around the fact that in this particular crisis bringing our community together physically is not the solution. 

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts are closed starting Monday, March 16.

The term of this closure is subject to change based on input from federal, state, and local public health authorities

The 2020 Phoenix Film Festival, scheduled from March 26 to April 5, at Harkins Scottsdale 101, has been postponed. Ticketholders will be contacted shortly.


Scandinavian Viking Festival, scheduled on March 28 at Desert Fjord Lodge 6-133, Sons of Norway in Scottsdale, has been postponed.

Due to concerns with coronavirus we regret that we will be cancelling the festival and performance. We are currently making plans to re-schedule for early November 2020.

The Spring Tempe Festival of the Arts, scheduled to take place from March 27 to 29 in downtown Tempe, has been cancelled.


The Mutant Piñata show 2020, scheduled for Friday, March 20, inside Weird Garden, 1008 North 15th Avenue, has been canceled.


Arizona Game Fair, scheduled for March 20 to 22, at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, has been postponed.


The Indoor Football League, which includes the Arizona Rattlers and Tucson Sugar Skulls has postponed the 2020 season.

Shows scheduled in March at Phoenix Convention Center and Orpheum Theatre have been either postponed or canceled. Please check their webpage for shows.

Shows not scheduled in March will still move ahead as planned. We'll keep you posted if anything changes.

The Arizona Tiki Oasis, originally scheduled for April 23 to 26 at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, has been rescheduled for October 29 to November 1.

Per an update on the event's Facebook page, Larry the Cable Guy's appearance at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler on March 20, has been postponed.

The City of Mesa is closing the theaters of Mesa Arts Center beginning Monday, March 16, through March 29. All events during this period have been canceled or postponed. Classes and workshops at the Mesa Arts Center will be suspended beginning March 16 through April 12. The city's museums (Arizona Museum of Natural History, i.d.e.a. Museum, and Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum) will be closed until further notice. Ticketholders will be contacted through email about next steps.



Crescent Ballroom and Valley Bar will remain open, but all concerts, dance nights, and other special events are canceled until further notice.

Changing Hands Bookstore has canceled all in-store and offsite events through March 31. Ticket refunds should be requested through Eventbrite.



The Pat Tillman Foundation has announced that the 4.2 mile Pat's Run, which starts and ends near Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, is now a virtual race.




The screening of City Dreamers, scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 15, at The Third Street Theatre at Phoenix Center for the Arts, has been rescheduled for June 28.


Pride Run Phoenix, scheduled for March 21 through midtown Phoenix, has been canceled.


The Sixth Annual Downtown Mesa Brew Fest, which takes place on Main and Macdonald Streets in Mesa on Saturday, March 14, has been cancelled.



Art d’Core Gala, the opening gala of Art Detour on Thursday, March 19, has been canceled. The exhibition  will be available for viewing onsite at Park Central, 3121 North Third Avenue, as well as virtually. Refunds will be offered.



Events at Chandler Center for the Arts for the weekend of March 13 to 15 have been postponed.


Celebrity Fight Night will be held on October 3, instead of April 4, at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.

Phoenix Art Museum is canceling all on-site and off-site programs and events, including daily public and school tours, effective immediately through April 3. The Museum remains open during regular operating hours.


In a statement, The Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival announced that the event, scheduled for March 13 to 15, will be postponed. New dates have yet to be announced and purchased tickets will be honored at that time. Information on refunds for festival-goers who can’t attend on that date will be available at a later time.

In a statement, Phoenix Pride stated they will postpone the 40th Annual Phoenix Pride Festival and Parade, originally scheduled for April 4 to 5, 2020. The events will be rescheduled for the fall of 2020, with new dates to be announced soon.

Relentless Beats has postponed its annual Phoenix Lights music festival. The two-day electronic dance music festival was originally scheduled for April 3 and 4 at The Park at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler. It will now take place in the fall. All tickets will be honored for the new date.

The City of Tempe has canceled all events at the Tempe Center of the Arts through the end of April.


Per a message by organizer Jim Crawford on the event's Facebook page, the Phoenix Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival has been cancelled. Tickets purchased for this year's event will be honored next year.

Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation is moving to close all parks under Navajo Nation control, including Four Corners Monument, Canyon de Chelly Campground, Little Colorado River Tribal Park, and Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park (also known as Antelope Canyon) in Arizona.

MusicaNova Orchestra announced it is postponing its next three concerts, including the Young Artists Concert featuring Daniel Walker and Katheryn Chan on March 21, Music with a Voice: A Concert of Reclamation, featuring the orchestra at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, on March 29, and Stabat Mater: A Reflection on Holy Week, with vocal soloists and orchestra at Scottsdale Presbyterian Church on April 5. No new dates have been announced.
The Tucson dates of the Arizona Theatre Company's production of The Legend of Georgia McBride will go on hiatus of the premiere on Friday, March 13. Artistic Director Sean Daniels asked ticket holders “to rally around us in our time of need and consider making a contribution, donating your tickets or transferring them to a future production.”

According to the venue's website, Celine Dion's show at Gila River Arena on Sunday, March 29, has been postponed. A rescheduled date will be announced shortly.

The boy band 98° pulled out of the Chandler Ostrich Festival, but the festival is still scheduled to go on as planned from March 13 to March 15.


The Yuma Airshow, scheduled to take place from March 13 to March 14, has been canceled. The Luke Days 2020 airshow at Luke Air Force Base in the west Valley, scheduled for March 21-22 was also canceled.

Per a post on their Instagram account, Rage Against the Machine are postponing the first leg of their tour, including their dates on March 30 and April 1 at Gila River Arena in Glendale. A new date has yet to be announced.


According to the venue's website, performer Trixie Mattel's appearance at Orpheum Theatre on Friday, March 13, has been postponed. A new date has yet to be announced.

Celtic-punk band Flogging Molly have postponed their west coast tour, including a performance on Friday, March 13, at Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino in Maricopa.



Author Hanif Abdurraqib's appearance at Burton Barr Central Library on Wednesday, March 25, has been canceled.


According to reporter Robrt Pela, the Modern Phoenix Home Tour has been rescheduled for a later date.

Events at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts for the weekend of March 13 to 15, as well as the Scottsdale Arts Festival, have been canceled. Dr. Gerd Wuestemann, president and CEO of Scottsdale Arts, said in a statement:

Make no mistake: artists will suffer from the loss of income. Arts organizations will be seriously impacted, and our spirits will be poorer for it. Please consider supporting your local artists, community arts organizations, and nonprofits. Instead of asking for refunds for tickets and admissions fees, consider donating the amount, or convert your tickets into memberships or ticket vouchers. 

Professional soccer team Phoenix Rising has suspended all of its games for a minimum of 30 days in response to the current situation.



The 2020 Nirvana Food & Wine Festival, which was to be held at the Sanctuary on Camelback on April 16 to 19, has been pushed to this fall.

As we have continued to closely follow the recommendations of health and government officials, we are making the difficult decision to postpone and reschedule Nirvana Food & Wine Festival to the Fall.

The Palo Bloom Festival, scheduled for Saturday, March 14, at Steele Indian Park, is canceled.

It is now more than ever that we need to make our voices be heard, to ensure that all the resources for health safety, education, infrastructure, and all the issues that we care about are at everyone’s reach,” said Montserrat Arredondo, organizer and Executive Director of One Arizona. 


Cirque Du Soleil canceled all upcoming performances of "Axel," which were scheduled for March 19 to March 21 at Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.



Grand Canyon University announced it would put most of its classes online for the last four weeks of the semester.


The Alhambra Elementary School District in Phoenix decided to close its schools until further notice. The announcement came a few hours after state officials said they were recommending to keep schools open for now.


The Irish Fountain Fest 2020 on Saturday, March 14, in Fountain Hills has been canceled due to flooding and concerns regarding coronavirus.


The Arizona Legislature has indefinitely closed the Senate and House public galleries.



The Format are postponing their reunion shows, including the three scheduled at The Van Buren from April 3 through April 5. They have been rescheduled for July 25 to 27.



Major League Baseball plans to suspend Spring Training, including all games in the Phoenix metro area.


The National Hockey League has suspended the season, including all Coyotes games.



The Association of Tennis Professionals has suspended events for six weeks, canceling the Arizona Tennis Classic, which was scheduled from March 16 to March 22.


Organizers indefinitely postponed the Sedona Yoga Festival, which was scheduled to take place from March 12 to March 16. They said in a statement:

Our primary obligation is to provide an event that is safe for all participants – ticket holders, presenters, and vendors – and we cannot do that in the present public health crisis and in the face of this "Act of God."

The Democratic presidential debate in Phoenix between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders scheduled for March 15 will be moved to Washington D.C. out of caution.

"'Out of an abundance of caution and in order to reduce cross-country travel, all parties have decided that the best path forward is to hold Sunday’s debate at CNN’s studio in Washington, D.C., with no live audience,' DNC spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa told the Hill.

"In addition, the Univision anchor Jorge Ramos will no longer be one of the moderators. The DNC said that he had recently been 'in proximity with someone who was in direct contact with a person that tested positive for coronavirus.'"

The NBA has suspended the 2019-2020 season, including all upcoming Phoenix Suns games.


Walter Productions has canceled all upcoming events at its Where?House Gallery, including the Kalliope Party on Friday, March 13, BLOOM - The Spring Extravaganza on March 21, and Awakening on Sunday, March 22.


Organizers for HopeFest Phoenix, an annual event with a mission of connecting needy individuals and families with resources, indefinitely postponed the event, which was scheduled to take place at North Phoenix Baptist Church on March 28.

Our primary concern is for the health and well-being of all who attend and serve with us. We are working to reschedule HopeFest Phoenix, and will be communicating those details as they become available.



Planned Parenthood Advocates of AZ canceled several events scheduled for the weekend of March 13.


Cowtown Skateshop canceled the PHXAM skate festival, scheduled for March 28 to March 29 at Desert West Skateboard Plaza. Statement below:

The skateboarding community has and always will come first. Our first instinct as skateboarders was “F… it we got this”. As a result of the stiffening travel restrictions and difficulties surrounding the Covid 19 outbreak, we have decided to be proactive is best to protect staff, attendees, and riders.



U.S. Representative Tom O'Halleran canceled two town halls scheduled in Flagstaff and Oro Valley.


Organizers of Bird City Comedy Festival indefinitely postponed the event, which was scheduled to take place from March 26 to March 28 around downtown Phoenix.


The Tucson Festival of Books has been canceled. It was scheduled to take place at the University of Arizona on March 14 and 15.


Pearl Jam indefinitely postponed the first leg of their tour, including the band's Glendale show. The show was scheduled for April 11 at Gila River Arena.


Zac Brown Band postponed the spring leg of their 2020 tour, including the band's Phoenix show scheduled for March 28 at Ak-Chin Pavilion.


Pod Save America
canceled its live show in Phoenix. The show was scheduled for March 14 at Orpheum Theater.


CNN and the Democratic National Committee canceled the audience portion of the Phoenix presidential primary debate scheduled to take place on March 15.

The Lunar and Planetary Institute canceled the Asteroids, Comets, Meteors Conference scheduled for June 14 to 19 in Flagstaff. Here's the statement:

Dear Colleagues,

After much thought and consideration, we have made the decision to cancel and reschedule the Asteroids, Comets, Meteors Conference that was to be held June 14-19, 2020, in Flagstaff, Arizona due to the rapid spread of and uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus. The welfare and safety of our community and staff is very important to us.

Watch for updates on rescheduled dates. All participants should cancel their current hotel reservations and travel arrangements for June 14-19, 2020.

The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy canceled a symposium scheduled for March 12 to 14 at the Camby Hotel in Phoenix. Statement:

This decision to cancel is based on the latest developments of the spread of COVID-19 and came only after much deliberation and careful review of the CDC and WHO situation reports. While we are all extremely disappointed not to be moving forward with the event, we do not want to put our members or presenters into a potential harmful situation.
