Stop by for coffee with the new mayor of North Ridgeville

North Ridgeville’s new mayor, Kevin Corcoran, will continue to invite residents for coffee and conversation.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio -- Coffee and Conversation with the mayor of North Ridgeville has almost become a tradition. Former Mayor David Gillock clearly enjoyed the monthly get-togethers at either a City Hall conference room or, sometimes, at a local restaurant. The meetings were held either first thing in the morning or at 5 p.m.

The new mayor, Kevin Corcoran, has plenty to do to acclimate himself to the office (literally, the office -- he painted it before beginning his term), as well as all of the duties of the office of mayor.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he was going to continue the Coffee and Conversation meetings with local residents. The gatherings usually included about 10 or 12 constituents who stopped by to chat with the mayor about issues that concerned them, everything from levy issues to snowplowing to neighbors who don’t seem to understand that they have an obligation to obey parking rules.

It’s an informal gathering that the citizens of North Ridgeville clearly value and enjoy.

Corcoran has announced that he will continue the get-togethers and has laid out how the meetings will be scheduled. So far, the sessions are organized through the end of the year and all are at the early meeting time of 8 to 9 a.m. in the council chambers at City Hall. No 5 p.m. restaurant meetings.

One session is held on a Monday, three on Tuesdays, four on Wednesdays, two on Thursdays and one on a Friday.

The remaining dates include: Tuesday, Feb. 18; Wednesday, March 11; Wednesday, April 22; Thursday, May 21; Friday, June 19; Wednesday, July 22; Tuesday, Aug. 18; Thursday, Sept. 17; Monday, Oct. 19; Tuesday, Nov. 17; and Wednesday, Dec. 16.

“Stop in to enjoy a cup of coffee and casual conversation," Corcoran says. "But if you are unable to attend and have questions, please feel free to call me at 440-353-0811.”
