Is Boohoo's model meant to look like Meghan? Brunette in a maternity dress bears a striking resemblance to the pregnant Duchess - but customers accuse the retailer of using a PILLOW to create a fake bump

  • Twitter users accused online retailer Boohoo of using non-pregnant models
  • Claimed they were using pillows in place of bumps in maternity wear pictures
  • FEMAIL has contacted Boohoo for comment

She's a fashion icon with a much-copied wardrobe, so it's no wonder that brands are eager to cash in on the Meghan effect.

And although the Duchess has never worn Boohoo publicly, it hasn't stopped the brand using a model bearing a striking resemblance to Prince Harry's wife to model its maternity range.

However, the effect may well be lost on some angry customers who have accused the retailer of using pillows to plump up the stomach of the model advertising their maternity clothes.

Angry Twitter users have called out the online fashion retailer, after noticing pictures of 'pregnant' models with noticeably misshapen bellies.

The pictures show 'bumps' on the models featuring strange square angles and creases below the chest area.

A number of people took to social media to point out the unusual shape of the bumps, tagging Boohoo to clear up their questions.

User Georgia Hallgalley said: 'Really Boohoo, you really expect us to believe that this is a 'pregnant belly' you can literally see the pillow stuffed up her dress'.

Another customer by the name of Realizt Dee added: 'Boohoo you lot couldn't find a pregnant model? Lol. That belly ain't fooling anyone. I'm actually dying of laughter'.

Elsewhere Courto said: 'I feel like Boohoo didn't even try to make this model look like she was actually pregnant'.

And Jodess added: 'Looking at maternity dresses on Boohoo and I bet none of the girls are actually pregnant'.

One customer pointed out that model Camilla Moraes, who was used to showcase the maternity line, has no bump on her Instagram feed.

However the retailer's maternity range has been praised for its affordable price points and range of options.

One pregnant woman took to Twitter to share her excitement at the line, writing: 'Speaking of clothes if you pregnant ladies are looking for cute clothes try H&M, Boohoo, and ASOS. They have cute stuff that doesn’t looks matronly.'

Another added: 'You have to check Boohoo, their maternity wear is actually so nice for once instead of just being a collection of XL sheets.'

Having just ordered a piece from the line, one expectant mother tweeted: 'Super cute new maternity dress from Boohoo to cover my ever growing bump!'.

But some questioned the quality of the range, with one user writing: 'How can I be a size 8,10,12 and 14 in your maternity range? I won't be wearing again just think you need to sort your sizes out before I cry feeling like a beached whale'.
