Victorious progressed to the quarter-finals of Nasser 9 Ramadan Football Tournament beating Al Ameed 2-1.
The win sees Victorious maintain their lead in Group One with six points, two points ahead of Suqoor Al Bahrain who beat Nomas 2-1 in another match at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium.
Nawaf Al Abdullah put Victorious in the lead in the 38th minute while Mousa Ahmed equalised for Al Ameed in the 52nd.
Ali Alsfoor fired home the match-winner for Victorious in the 63rd minute.
Victorious’ Nawaf Al Abdullah was declared the best player of the match.
In the second match, Suqoor Al Bahrain beat Nomas 2-1. It was Nomas’ second loss in as many games.
Nomas made an encouraging start and almost took the lead when Khalid Lahdan made a fine long range attempt. But his shot sailed inches over the bar.
Suqoor Al Bahrain, on the other hand, started slowly and came across their first chance in the 24th minute with Ghanim Al Hamad controlled a good pass inside the box. However, his shot was easily blocked by the goalkeeper.
At the other end, Suqoor Al Bahrain’s goalkeeper Waleed Juma needed quick reaction to save Nomas’ Khalid Lahdan’s effort.
But just before half-time Nomas were able to take the lead through Haza Ali.
In the second-half, Suqoor Al Bahrain went all out for the equaliser and their efforts were quickly rewarded.
Ghanim Hamad dribbled past several players before sending a through pass to teammate Umer Mohammed and the later cooly slotted home to make it 1-1.
Suqoor Al Bahrain could have taken the lead in the 73rd minute but Ayman Abdulameer wasted an one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper.
Suqoor Al Bahrain pushed forward for the match-winner and duly got it in the dying minutes.
Ghanim Mohammed made a good pass to teammate Mohammed Abdullah, who fired home from close range to seal three points.
Suqoor Al Bahrain captain Ahmed Ibrahim won the best player award.
With this win, Suqoor Al Bahrain took their tally to four points while Nomas remain without any.
Defending champions Al Fakhar take on Ahlam Batelco in today’s first match.
Al Fakhar are in second place behind Galacticos in Group Two on goal difference after both won their first games.
Galacticos face Al Wehda in the second match. Al Wehda and Ahlam Batelco are currently occupying third and fourth places respectively.
