LINCOLN, Neb. — Second-seeded Diller-Odell advanced to the Nebraska State Volleyball Class D-1 championship at the expense of Hartington Cedar Catholic, downing the Trojans 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 in the semifinals on Friday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Karli Heidemann had 18 kills and eight ace serves for Diller-Odell (35-1), which will play fourth-seeded Archbishop Bergan (30-11) for the championship today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Cedar Catholic (19-13) will face top-seeded Pleasanton (31-2) for third place, 1 p.m. match at Lincoln East High School.
Also for Diller-Odell, Addison Heidemann had 29 assists, eight digs and three ace serves. Mackenzie Vitosh and Emily Swanson each had seven kills, and Madelyne Meyerle added eight digs in the victory.
For Cedar Catholic, Abigail Hochstein led the way with 10 kills, two ace serves and seven digs. Kenlee Goeden posted eight kills. Aiden Wortmann had 26 assists. Laney Kathol and Brynn Wortmann each had five kills, with Wortmann recording a team-high three ace serves. Megan Heimes added 14 digs for the Trojans.
LINCOLN, Neb. — Third-seeded Bruning-Davenport-Shickley outlasted Wynot 20-25, 25-11, 14-25, 30-28, 15-2 in the Class D-2 semifinals of the Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament, Friday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
BDS (29-4) will take on fifth-seeded Humphrey St. Francis (24-4) in the championship match, a 9 a.m. start at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Second-seeded Wynot (25-4) will face top-seeded Lawrence-Nelson (30-5) for third, an 11 a.m. start at Lincoln East.
Macy Kamler had 19 kills, three blocks and 18 digs, and Regan Alfs had 18 kills, 17 digs and 19 assists to lead BDS. Jordan Bolte finished with 25 assists and 12 digs. Mariah Sliva had 14 kills, four blocks and 20 digs. Taylor Sliva had three blocks and 14 digs in the victory.
Karley Heimes led the Wynot offense with 12 kills. Edyn Sudbeck posted seen kills, 16 digs and 12 assists. Kaitlyn Heimes had seven kills and four blocks. Emersyn Sudbeck finished with 22 assists and 12 digs. Whitney Hochstein had six kills and four blocks. Shaelee Planer posted five kills, four blocks and 10 digs. Katelyn Heine had 22 digs, three blocks and two ace seves. Michaela Lange and Noelle Wieseler each had 23 digs in the effort.
