Woman taken to hospital after crash in east St. Paul; alcohol believed to be a factor

A woman was taken to a hospital after a crash in east St. Paul on Monday.

According to St. Paul Police, officers responded to the crash near Seventh Street East and White Bear Avenue at 6:18 p.m. There, officers found a 23-year-old woman lying on the sidewalk and writhing in pain.

Police said the woman had been driving a gray Suzuki SUV east on Seventh Street when she rolled into the intersection, struck a Lexus and was ejected from the SUV.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of a laceration to her left thigh and a head injury but was expected to survive. A blood draw was also performed to see if she was impaired, as officers found an empty beer bottle in her vehicle, police said.

Both vehicles were badly damaged but nobody else was injured, according to police.

An investigation is ongoing.
