CHICAGO, IL — Police were called to the home of former Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson Friday night on a domestic incident, according to multiple media reports.

Officers were at Johnson's home near 33rd Place and Racine Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood around 9:30 p.m. after a "verbal altercation escalated," according to a Chicago Sun-Times report. Johnson has been accused of shoving his wife, the report states.

Johnson is married to Nakia Fenner, a CPD lieutenant. The victim refused medical attention, Chicago police officer Michael Carroll said in a statement to Patch.

Johnson, fired from the top CPD post less than a year ago just weeks before he was set to retire, turned himself in at the 9th District police station on Saturday, CBS and others have reported.

Carroll said the incident remained under investigation as of Sunday morning.

The domestic report was made just days after Johnson was sued by a female CPD officer who said he raped her multiple times at police headquarters and the release of the Office of the Inspector General report that detailed a drinking-and-driving incident that led to his firing.
