Scot ‘choked partner and forced her to sleep in dog bed over four years of abuse’

A MAN will stand trial next year accused of making his partner sleep on a dog’s bed.

Brian Scott, 35, allegedly abused Stacey McGonigle between January 2017 and March 2021 at properties in Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire.

Prosecutors claim Scott engaged in a course of behaviour which was the abuse of a partner or ex-partner.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard allegations that Scott acted in an aggressive manner and repeatedly struck her on the head.

It is alleged he poked her in the eye and demanded that food was made for him.

The charge claims that she was then choked and “forced to sleep on the dog’s bed".

Scott is also accused of assaulting Miss McGonigle by chucking vodka over her head and body.

It is claimed he then choked her again before shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence at her.

'THREATENING AND ABUSIVE'

Scott faces separate allegations that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner.

The charge claims he repeatedly turned the volume up on a stereo and refused to turn it down.

It further alleges that Scott climbed into a window uninvited at a property in Lennoxtown.

It is there Scott is claimed to have damaged items and slept there uninvited putting Miss McGonigle in fear or alarm.

An earlier alleged incident states Scott struck Miss McGonigle on the head with a glass to her injury and permanent disfigurement.

Scott’s final charge claims he assaulted Maureen Runciman at a property in Lennoxtown on August 15, 2020 by throwing vodka over her head and body.

Scott, who appeared from custody, pled not guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A trial was fixed for February by Sheriff Paul Crozier who continued Scott’s remand meantime.
