    What is Penske Truck Rental?

Penske Truck Rental offers five different sizes of trucks for people who want to move themselves. Local moves are affordable, and customers typically pick up and drop off the truck from the same location. Long-distance moves are one-way, so customers leave the truck at their destination city. Penske’s online quote process makes it easy to get an accurate price with all fees included.

    Penske Truck Rental price

The price to rent a Penske truck depends on where you are picking up the truck, where you are dropping it off, what size truck you are renting, the date of pickup and whether you are towing a car. Penske Truck Rental moving services

Penske caters to two kinds of moves:

    • Local moves: Same-city moves usually require customers to pick up and drop off the truck at the same location. Penske often adds a small per-mile charge to the base price for renting the truck.
    • Long-distance moves: These are also known as “one-way” moves. Customers pick up the truck in one city and drop it off at the destination after unloading it.

Penske has five options for truck size, which lets you choose the perfect size to fit your belongings. Penske also sells packing materials and rents hand trucks. Every move comes with roadside assistance. Customers also have the option to haul a car behind their truck.

Is Penske Truck Rental worth it?

Renting a truck from Penske is worth it if you’re moving yourself and not hiring a professional transporter. It's generally affordable, and the process to reserve a truck online is straightforward. We also like that you can tow a car behind the rental truck — just keep in mind that loading, unloading and driving the truck require a lot of effort. For consumers willing to put in that effort to save money, a Penske truck rental is worth it.

I recently rented a cargo van to move things from storage in San Diego across country to Baltimore. There were some initial hiccups - the first van they gave me didn't have a working radio; the next place I went to didn't have a van although it was supposed to; so I ended up at four different places over 24 hours to get a working cargo van. However, after that, there were no problems at all with the van, and throughout the process customer service was terrific. People at the Penske hotline and at each location (even non-Penske like Home Depot) were patient, helpful, and informed. They helped me get a better discount than I initially found online, gave me a new contract to account for the initial delay, and waived the late fee when I returned the van a few hours late. So, despite the problems getting the van in the beginning, the excellent customer service throughout more than made up for it and I would happily rent from them again. - Adam N.

Rent a truck from Penske in Dallas TX, and they treated us good. They had our truck ready to go and we didn't have any problem. So if anyone needs to rent a truck, rent it from Penske. They'll treat you like a family and make sure you are comfortable. When I do move again, I will be renting a truck from Penske, and again thank you to the team of Dallas TX, (Irving) two thumbs up.

We rented a one-way truck for the standard 5 days. When we got to our destination they waived the $100 / day charge and let us use the truck for another week for free. I can't remember any company ever being so generous, so I want to thank the Penske people for their kind dealing with us. Also all the customer service reps were very friendly.

I would like to review the Penske Truck Rental on Stanley Gault in Louisville, KY. My customer service representative Rachael ** went above and beyond the call of duty for me and my situation. She gave me the best price for Penske rental that was over a 2-week period of time with a final one-way. I was able to call her anytime and I live in Brooksville FL but was renting from this specific Penske. Rachael provided 5-star service and professionalism for me throughout the process. She did the best she could with discounts and was able to help me to the very last day with coordinating the drop-off times and my work schedule. I had 100% service from her and I am recognizing her for the hard work and time she put into my contract. Thank you so much!

Reserved a truck a week in advance and received a confirmation that the truck would be available. Showed up at Home Depot at the scheduled time and was told there was no truck available for us, even though we had a confirmed reservation. Had to scramble to find a moving truck somewhere else since we had friends waiting at our house to help us move. Terrible service. What’s the point of the guarantee??

Hello everyone, please read entire review whoever try to purchase or have a plan to buy a commercial truck from them. In the February 20 I bought the Frieghtliner 2018 from them. I picked up the truck in Indianapolis and I am leaving in California. When I was coming back to California the cooler was leaking. And I feel the brakes are not good so when I reach in California, I took the truck to my mechanic and he fixed that coolant leaking. Cost $300. After that he check the whole truck. When he diagnose one of the cylinder head was not working it cost me $6500. After that he checked one of the passenger side disc brake not good and he showed me the caliper was cut with the welder inside and have a no disc brake either. It cost me $2000 the total, I have to pay $8000 to fix my truck. I bought the truck cash so I spent my whole money to buy the truck and now I don’t have money to fix when I call them.

The lady her name is Daniel. She told me the post sale team reject my request because I told them I bought the truck not even month yet and that truck give me this problem. How I gonna work right now my truck is parked in my yard for nothing so I request you everyone please please please try to buy any truck from them because we work very hard and save money little by little then we buy a truck for them. It’s only business when they sell the truck. They don’t care the truck is working or not. But all truckers we know how we work, so please please don’t buy anything from them. They are very big liars. I hope everybody understand. I already stuck with this truck but if my comment is help you, God gonna help me God bless all truckers. Thank you.

Been a huge fan of Penske truck rental for nearly forty years as a traveling construction superintendent, not so much this time around relocated from East Mesa Az to Bullhead City Az. Four hour trip turned into a nightmare of seven hours. Hour before destination ABS, Stabilizer service needed, Suspension controls, check engine light all came on, had to crawl below fifty miles an hour for better than 100 miles.

Got to destination late. Couldn't check in to hotel, slept in truck, Roadside was called exceptional mechanics, rear end needs to be replaced along with sensors, couldn't drive it for the days I paid for which was three, had to be towed to Penske in Vegas, left me stranded to run planned errands for two days, Penske stated in multiple emails and texts I would be compensated. That was Saturday. Five days later no communication. No credit to my CC? Extremely disappointed the way this was handled, guess I need to contact my attorney all for 200.00 refund.

This place is the most dishonest, shady Penske location that I've ever dealt with. Today, they fraudulently charged my credit card for an unauthorized amount of $89.08 (see below). Their staff is extremely incompetent. They make promises that they have no intention of keeping. If you need a rental truck and want to be ripped-off, then you've definitely found the right location. 02/21/2024 PENSKE TRK ** CARD#**.

Where do I start, this company took advantage of me. I made a reservation for a 22ft truck and not knowing anything about moving trucks they gave me a 26ft diesel. That isn’t what I reserved and it was supposed to be unleaded. Had no clue they had me sign without telling me this and walked out around truck told me nothing and handed me keys. So I left and found out on driving back from getting truck on my moving day that I had a headlight out. So while moving in rain had to be on phone with roadside to get it fixed. He said everything is good to go.

Well next morning leaving I found out they gave me a quarter tank of gas and it was diesel and the tail light/blinker wasn’t working either so I had to stop in another state and have roadside assistance fix that, but it doesn’t end there. They did not check any of the fluids and driving across country. I had a light come on for DEF fluid and roadside assistance, made me stop at midnight in a dangerous area and go and buy the fluid and figure out where it goes in the truck. I asked if this amount of fluid would be enough get me to my destination and it didn’t!

The next day. I had to buy 60 dollars more worth of more fluids for the truck. No dolly in it like I paid for! It lagged because the fluid so it slowed my trip down as well. So I had to stop my trip 4 times. My family and I were put in danger multiple times stopping in dangerous places because this truck. It was completely unsafe and not even street legal. They didn’t refund me barely anything and took no accountability for multiple people failing to do their jobs. This company and service is a joke and as I said took advantage of me as a woman who knew nothing about moving trucks.
