The same day as 19 children were killed in an elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, an Akron Public Schools student found a bullet on the floor of a school building, according to a message sent to parents.

The principal of Litchfield Community Learning Center, which serves grades six through eight, sent a voicemail to parents Tuesday saying a student had found a bullet on a hallway floor.

There were no active threats against the school, the principal said, and it was not clear where the bullet came from.

The school was working with Akron police and school staff to go through security footage and talk to students and staff.

Metal detectors would continue to be used in the coming days at Litchfield, the voicemail said.
