A Felton man was arrested Friday, a year after a Maryland man was killed during a home invasion in Dover.

In January 2019, 25-year-old Cahlil N. Simmons, along with another person, entered a mobile home in the 200 block of Kentwood Drive near Wilmington University and shot 30-year-old Jesse Stanford from Cambridge, Maryland, in the upper torso, Delaware State Police said.

They then fled without stealing anything, police said. There were two other adults in the residence during the incident. Neither was injured.

Simmons was later identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.

Police found him in the first block of Farmhouse Trail, near Felton, and took him into custody without incident.

Simmons was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy.

He was sent to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution near Wilmington in lieu of a $550,000 cash bond.
