Coronavirus In Ohio: 627 New Cases, 36 Deaths

COLUMBUS, OH — For the second straight day, Ohio beat its three-week average for daily new coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and intensive care admissions, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health.

The state confirmed 627 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, up versus the three-week average of 574 new cases daily. There were also 84 new COVID-19-related hospitalizations (three-week average: 83) and 19 new intensive care admissions (three-week average: 17).

There were fewer deaths confirmed Friday (36) than the state has been averaging daily (41). However, deaths tend to lag behind other metrics like new cases and new hospitalizations.
