Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia paid tribute to Liam Simpson, 4, of Robesonia, with a lunch and bowling party for his family and friends Saturday at Berks Lanes, Sinking Spring.

Make-A-Wish calls Liam a “local superhero” for his inspirational battle against cancer, including enduring the loss of his right leg.

The party was co-sponsored by Redner’s Markets and Kretschmar Premium Deli Meats and Cheeses. The businesses presented Make-A-Wish with a check for $27,288 during Saturday’s festivities. Some of the proceeds are to fund a Liam’s wish for a trip to Florida theme parks.

The money included donations made by Redner’s shoppers durin an in-store fundraising campaign this year. The party was part of Kretschmar’s Legendary Wishes campaign in support of the Make-A-Wish program’s efforts to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.
