Teen killed, 2 injured in northern Iowa crash, state police say
A teenager died and two people were injured Sunday in a crash in northern Iowa, authorities said.
Olivia Bachman, 16, of Whittemore, died at the scene of the collision south of Thor in Humboldt County, Iowa State Patrol said in a preliminary crash report.
Two others, a 64-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman from Algona, were injured; their conditions were not immediately known. The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital while the woman was airlifted to a clinic, police said.
The crash occurred before 5 p.m. Sunday after a 2008 Pontiac Torrent that authorities said Bachman was driving failed to halt at a stop sign. A 2010 Toyota Highlander driven by the Algona man then collided with the Pontiac, according to the crash report.
At the intersection, the Pontiac struck a utility pole and rolled on its top, authorities said. The Toyota came to a rest in a ditch.
