THE Bahrain Rugby Club’s under-12 girls netball team finished third overall at the Inter-Gulf Netball Championships in Dubai.
After managing to get through the first round of matches, they found themselves in a game against Arabian Falcons which, although fighting hard, they lost 4-7.
The loss meant the team had to play against Abu Dhabi, who they had earlier lost 2-0 in the first round, to claim third place.
The girls put in a superb performance, lifted their game and demonstrated great fighting spirit to win the match 8-3.
The under-14 Bahrain team also showed a lot of determination in a very tough group. This was the first time they had come together as a team for this type of competition and with each match the coaches could see significant improvements.
The icing on the cake for Bahrain was when Bella Rushton of the under-12 team was declared best overall player.
The trip to this inaugural competition was supported by Alba, Bahrain Rugby Club and Bahrain Netball League.
The players are already looking forward to taking up another challenge in the near future.
