Men Stole Mail, Forged Checks From Business: North Haven Police

Two men are accused of stealing a business's mail, including checks to its vendors that were forged and cashed at multiple banks.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two men have been arrested on multiple charges in connection to the theft and forgery of checks from a business in North Haven. The owners of a State Street business reported to police in October 2017 that their outgoing mail, which included checks to the business’s vendors, was stolen.

Several of the business’s checks were found to be forged and cashed in multiple New Haven County banks, according to police. Detectives identified the suspects and obtained arrest warrants.

Alexander Gonzalez, 29, of Waterbury, was arrested Feb. 23 and charged with four counts of fourth-degree larceny and four counts of third-degree forgery. He was held on a $25,000 bond.

On March 16, Michael Connelly, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree larceny and two counts of third-degree forgery. He was held on a $10,000 bond.
