U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested a man in connection with Tuesday's fatal shooting near the Nashville airport, officials said.

The agents arrested Brandon Swaby, 20, at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, airport on Sunday, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Swaby has been charged in Nashville with criminal homicide following a shooting Tuesday near the Nashville International Airport. Police said Christopher Brandon McCabe, 22, of Gallatin, was killed in the shooting.

Swaby was attempting to board a flight to his native Jamaica, MNPD said. He will be held in custody in Broward County, Florida, pending his return to Nashville.

Police believe McCabe traded his BMW for a Dodge Charger earlier in the week through Facebook Marketplace. The BMW broke down Tuesday near the Nashville airport, and someone inside the BMW called McCabe to help. McCabe arrived in a relative's SUV, a dispute between McCabe and someone inside the BMW ensued and McCabe was shot, according to police.

McCabe then tried to drive away before crashing the SUV into a guard rail, an MNPD spokesperson said. Two men and a woman fled the scene from the BMW after the shooting.
