BAY MINETTE POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

Alonzo Hale of Bay Minette has been arrested for Murder and is currently in the Baldwin County Corrections Center with no bond. Hale turned himself into investigators around 11:30 AM today.

The weapon used in the murder has also been recovered.

According to police, Hale shot and killed the victim identified as 19-year-old Larry Darnell Smith Jr during an altercation at the Circle K Gas Station located in Bay Minette, Al.

Investigators also arrested Tara Lavone Robinson of Bay Minette for Assault 1st. Robinson was arrested at a residence in Bay Minette at approximately 11:15 hours. During the arrest of Robinson, the weapon she allegedly used to assault the victim with was recovered.

Police say Robinson stabbed the victim identified as, Sharrikka Shawnta Smith in the back during the fight that occurred at the Circle K Gas Station. Both these incidents are related and occurred at the same time.

Smith is currently at USA Medical Center in Mobile receiving treatment. Sharrikka and Larry Smith are brother and sister and are from the Bay Minette area.

This investigation is ongoing. No more information will be released today regarding this incident.

UPDATE (4:22 p.m.) — The Bay Minette Police Department made two arrests in connection to the shooting and stabbing that happened at the Circle K gas station on Highway 59.

Alonzo Hale and Tara Robinson were the suspects arrested. Hale turned himself into investigators earlier Saturday morning.

Investigators say Hale shot and killed 19-year-old Larry Smith Jr.

As for Robinson, she was arrested at her residence in Bay Minette Saturday morning. During her arrest, the weapon used to stab Sharrikka Smith in the back in the midst of their fight, was recovered.

According to investigators, both incidents are connected and the victims are siblings.

Smith is at USA Medical Center in Mobile for medical treatment.

This investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: Bay Minette’s Police Chief confirms one man was shot and killed and a woman was stabbed after an early morning incident at a gas station on Highway 59. According to a news release, Chief Al Tolbert said officers responded to a call of gunshots at the Circle K/Shell on US 31/ Highway 59 at about 2 Saturday morning.

One man was found shot to death. A woman was stabbed. She was taken to University Hospital but her condition is unknown. The news release says police have identified a suspect but have not located that person.

Police say the shooting death stems from a fight that occurred at the Host Sports Bar in Bay Minette. The people involved then got into a fight at the nearby gas station. No names have been released.

On Saturday, March 14, 2020 at approximately 2:03 AM, officers of the Bay Minette Police Department responded to a call of shots fired and someone shot at 303 US Highway 31 South, Circle K Gas Station.

Upon officer’s arrival, an adult male subject was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. An adult female was also at the scene injured from a stab wound. The female victim was taken to USA Medical Center and her condition at this time is not known.

The suspect responsible for the shooting has been identified but has not been arrested. Officers and investigators are currently looking for the suspect responsible for the shooting.

This incident is the result of a fight that occurred at the Host Sports Bar located in Bay Minette. The individuals left that location and later all arrived at the Circle K Gas Station. Individuals began fighting at the gas station and that resulted in one individual shot and another stabbed.

This investigation is currently ongoing. The names of the victims will not be released until family members are properly notified. No more information will be released this morning regarding this incident.

ORIGINAL STORY: BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — Bay Minette Police are on the scene of an incident at a gas station on Highway 59. It happened sometime before dawn at a Shell Gas Station near Street’s Seafood Restaurant.

We reached out to Bay Minette’s Police Chief, he declined to give any information about what happened at this time. He said a news release would be coming later. Video from a News 5 viewer shows police tape around the gas station and some law enforcement vehicles. No word yet on what happened or if anyone was hurt.
