ImageWare’s mobile biometric solution GoVerify ID selected for healthcare application

An 8-K Regulation FD (Fair Disclosure) report from ImageWare Systems providing notice of an agreement with a global financial services provider to provide its GoVerify ID mobile biometric solution for a healthcare application could indicate wide deployment of biometrics to meet regulatory regimes in the U.S.

The GoVerifyID platform will be part of a solution for ensuring compliance with 21st Century Cures Act, which requires that states implement Electronic Visit Verification for patients, according to the company disclosure. The solution is expected to be deployed in the second quarter of 2019.

Corporate communications consultant Tony Fisch tweeted in response to a Biometric Update story that industry sources tell him the deal ImageWare disclosed in the 8-K report is with financial services giant First Data which could be worth $12 million per year, and may be followed by further agreements. Fisch notes on his LinkedIn profile that ImageWare is a client.

Following the company’s latest earnings report, ImageWare Chairman and CEO Jim Miller referred to “exciting new opportunities where we can improve revenues” when explaining his optimism in the wake of an increased net loss in Q3 2018.
