Howard, Dorothy Mae Bowe 94, of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away on October 8, 2019. Dorothy was born March 6, 1925 in Dousman, Wisconsin, to Irving and Margaret (nee Griffiths) Bowe. She graduated Waukesha High School in 1942 and attended Whitewater State Teacher's College. Dorothy taught in a one-room schoolhouse for five years. Dorothy married Walter Henry Howard in December 1946. In the summer of 1947 they drove to Fairbanks, Alaska, via the Alcan Highway in a 1937 Ford Station Wagon. They worked there briefly, then returned to Wisconsin. In 1950 Dorothy and Walter moved to Bloomington, Minnesota. Dorothy was a member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. Dorothy volunteered in the Bloomington School System as a Junior Great Books Leader, Resource Center volunteer, and a tutor and mentor for children with learning disabilities. In 1984 Dorothy and Walter moved to a rural setting near River Falls, Wisconsin. During their years together Walter, Dorothy, and children traveled extensively. Eventually Walter and Dorothy traveled to six continents. Preceded in death by her husband Walter Howard who passed away in 2011, she is survived by their four children Tim (Suzanne) Howard, Holly (Felix) Howard, Anne Howard, and Todd (Claudia) Howard, and six grandchildren Jamie Howard, Chad Howard, Erik Klausen, Merete Klausen Morris, Dani Howard and Alex Howard and four great- grandchildren.
