SVMC Presents: 'Advances in Total Joint Replacement'

Print Story | Email Story
BENNINGTON, Vt.— Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) will present "Advances in Total Joint Replacement" Wednesday, Dec. 9 over video conferencing software.

The presentation will take place from 4 to 5 pm, and it is free and open to the public. The event is appropriate for any person who experiences joint pain, along with members of their families.

"The joint replacements of today look entirely different than those that your parents may have had," Michaela Schneiderbauer medical director of Orthopedics at SVMC said. "We are eager to share what is new so that patients have all of the information they need to make a decision about whether a joint replacement is right for them."

A panel—including Orthopedic Surgeons Suk Namkoong and Michaela Schneiderbauer, both of SVMC Orthopedics, and Michaelia St. Jacques of SVMC Outpatient Rehabilitation—will discuss who should consider a joint replacement and the recent advances that have made recovery from joint replacement surgery quicker than ever. Attendees will learn about the practice's new Same-Day Joint Replacement program, anterior and posterior approaches, and the consultation-to-surgery timeline, which can be as short as four weeks.
