David Heron's AGAINST HIS WILL Announces Full Cast

Can A Woman Rape A Man?

This is one of the central questions posed in playwright David Heron's provocative production, Against His Will- The Staged Reading.

The legal drama will have its Long Island premiere this Sunday, February 17 at 7pm at The New Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre, Long Island.

Heron himself will direct an accomplished cast that includes the previously announced 2018 Top Indie Film Festival (T.I.F.) Best Actor winner James Duke Walker (Roadside Assistance), Gabrielle Archer and Hector Lincoln. They are joined by Nyanda Cammock, Dianne Dixon, Kevin Elden, Fleurette Harris, Candice McKoy and Carlene Taylor.

Set in modern day Jamaica, Against His Will is the story of Daniel Bryan (played by Walker), a young computer salesman who claims that his female boss, Gillian Forbes (Gabrielle Archer) had sex with him without his consent. When he decides to file legal charges against her, the stage is set for a dramatic courtroom battle that sends the Caribbean nation into chaos, creating a media furore and shaking the very foundations of the island's judicial system.

Heron's nearly twenty year old play, which has previously enjoyed successful productions in Great Britain , Canada and throughout the Caribbean, is experiencing a new wave of interest as a result of the #METOO MOVEMENT and the current worldwide focus on sexual harassment and gender dynamics.

According to him, "It is truly an honor to bring the staged concert reading of this thought provoking piece- which is so very timely right now- to Long Island, and with such an amazing corps of actors, as we seek to build momentum towards a fully realized production in the near future. Audiences are in for an experience to remember because this is a cast that will truly deliver. The depth of their resumes speaks volumes."

The Jamaican born Nyanda Cammock, who plays the role of Heather Bryan, the plaintiff's pregnant wife- has an extensive resume of acting credits that spans the USA, Great Britain and the diaspora, including the British tour revival of Heron's first play Ecstasy and the New York production of Karl O'Brian Williams' Not About Eve.

Dianne Dixon plays Judge Elaine Buchanan and is a two time Audelco award nominee who has appeared on the Emmy winning web series We Are New York among others, while Kevin Elden, portraying the role of the defendant's attorney Lincoln Jacobs, is a veteran of stage and screen whose credits include Law and Order, The Good Wife and Deception.

Audelco award nominee Candice McKoy plays prosecuting Attorney Rachel Robinson, and has appeared on stage in such diverse productions as Intimate Apparel and Heron's own Love and Marriage and New York City as well as television series including The Path.

Rounding out the cast are ensemble members Carlene Taylor and Fleurette Harris.

Taylor has been seen in such acclaimed stage productions as Aston Cooke's Single Entry as well as the world premiere production of Welcome To America- A Caribbean Musical, while Harris, a respected veteran of the Jamaican and Caribbean stage, returns to acting after a hiatus of several years.

The current production of Against His Will- The Staged Reading is a remount of a presentation originally staged last September at The Billie Holiday Theatre in Brooklyn. It broke the attendance record for the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop Playreading series held monthly at the theater, leading to the current demand for additional performances.

A highlight of that event - the post show talkback between the playwright, the actors and the audience- will be repeated at this Sunday's Long Island performance.
