CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles split their Big 8 Conference doubleheader at Concord on Tuesday as they came back to win the opener 4-2 but dropped the nightcap 5-0.
Karsen Maurer’s RBI double tied the score at 1-1 in the 6th inning of the first game. The Orioles scored three runs in the top of the seventh to get the W. The got three bunt hits by Bradley Harper, Blake Burkhart and Corbin Bethel and an RBi single by Kyle Rodesiler in the seventh.
Harper picked up the win throwing a three hitter. He struck out six and only have gave up two walks. Brady Mescher got the final out to record the save.
Bethel and Kyler Maurer both had two hits.
Quincy starting pitcher Blake Burkhart held Concord scoreless into the fifth inning before the Yellow Jackets scored twice. They added three insurance runs in the 6th inning.
The Orioles bats were silent in game two as they had only three singles.
Quincy is now 3-5 in the Big 8 Conference and 4-7 overall.
They will host Stockbridge for a doubleheader on Saturday morning as part of Quincy’s All Sports Day.
