STILLWATER -- Jim Knowles and his defensive staff's focus has landed on another in-state talent, this time in the class of 2021. Bryce Stephens, a receiver out of John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, took to Twitter earlier this week to make the announcement.

Stephens , a 6-1, 170-pound athlete, is an absolute speedster. I had the opportunity to watch him play this summer at 'The Show', Oklahoma State's elite quarterback, receiver and defensive back camp, and he posted a blistering 4.37 forty time.

Since Iowa State first offered Stephens back in April, he's received nine other offers: Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Arkansas, Memphis, Nebraska and Washington State among others.

Coached by former Oklahoma State quarterback Aso Pogi, who's in his first year as head coach, Stephens has excelled. In nine games, Stephens has hauled in 21 receptions for 416 yards and six touchdowns. While that might not look like a lot, John Marshall is a run-the-ball offense. As a team, they've combined for just 44 receptions on the season compared to 236 carries.

But as far as carries go for Stephens, he's carries the ball 11 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns. He's also recorded 127 kick return yards and 228 punt return yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, he's recorded 27 total tackles, 12 of which have been solo stops. He's also hauled in four interceptions, recovered one fumble, forced three fumbles and had two pass breakups.

During his sophomore season under head coach Rashaun Woods, who's now the head coach at Enid, Stephens finished with 43 receptions for 1,004 yards and 15 touchdowns.

If we're just looking at numbers here, stats on the field, speed and size, Bryce Stephens needs to be top-priority for the Cowboy defensive staff.

Stephens is listed as a three-star athlete and checks in as a top-500 prospect in the 2020 class according to 247Sports.
