Leon Gilbert Morgan

Leon Gilbert Morgan was born on a hot day in Crowell, Texas, on August 7, 1934, to Virgie Borchardt Morgan and William Llewellen Morgan. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Llewzetta Gloyna; and grandson, Forrest Grams. Leon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Billie "Katie" Morgan; sister, Joyce Ann Mitchell of Crowell Texas; son, Lynn Morgan (Dena); daughter, Katherine Grams (Rory); daughter, Suzette Morrow (Robert) all of Elkins, Ark.; and daughter, Alicia Moore (Bob) of Chicago, Illinois; and grandchildren, Aspen Grams, Laura Guidry (Jordan), Scott East (Taylor), Joshua East (Annie), Zachary Morgan, Rheanna Morgan, Olivia Moore, and Ava Moore; and great-grandchildren, Salem East, Arwen Guidry, and Harvest East. Leon graduated Elkins High School in 1951, joined the Air Force in 1952 and after returning home in 1956 he attended the University of Arkansas, graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology. After graduation, he worked in the lab at the Siloam Springs and Springdale hospitals and retired from Washington Regional Medical Center in 1999. Leon was a member of the Church of Christ, recently attending the Tuttle congregation. He formerly had served as a deacon of the Baldwin congregation. After retiring from the hospital, he worked at the Gospel Tracts International. At a young age Leon wanted to be a preacher of his Lord and Savior's Gospel and he did so with World Bible School, missionary trips to foreign countries and by serving as long as his health allowed him to with the local congregations and the tract ministry. Leon was proud of his family's service in the United States Armed Forces, he was a Korean war veteran, his dad served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, his son, an Army veteran who served in the Gulf War, two grandsons in the Army and a grandson-in-law in the Marines. Pallbearers are Scott East, Joshua East, Zachary Morgan, Jordan Guidry, Robert McFadden and Arnold Hardin. Honorary Pallbearer Forrest Grams. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Tuttle Church of Christ in Elkins, with burial to follow at Tuttle Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Moore's Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
