Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,500 New Cases, 120 Hospitalizations

COLUMBUS, OH — Officials confirmed more than 1,500 new COVID-19 cases in Ohio over the past 24 hours.

Ohio confirmed 1,527 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the state health department announced. More than 78,000 Ohioans have now contracted the virus since the pandemic began. This is the second most cases reported in one day since the pandemic began, Gov. Mike DeWine said Wednesday.

At least 16 Ohioans died due to complications caused by COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the state health department announced. That's level with the state's three-week average of new deaths per day.

Ohio saw a continued surge in hospitalizations related to COVID-19. At least 128 residents were admitted to hospitals for COVID-19 issues in the past 24 hours. Over the past three weeks, 93 Ohioans per day have been admitted to hospitals for COVID-19 treatment.
