The Fourth Meeting of the Council of King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University held
Peking: On December 21, the Fourth Meeting of the Council of King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University was held online. The meeting was chaired by Zheng Qingwen, director of the King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University (Library Branch).
The current rotating Council Chairman Faisal mentioned in his speech that in the special year of 2020, everyone has been moving forward with heavy burdens. From the work report, he could see the major achievements of the Library Branch this year. He also expressed gratitude to all the efforts and the support that staff and various stakeholders provided for the construction and development of the Library Branch. He said that the Library Branch has built a bridge to deepen China-Saudi friendship, promote the exchanges and mutual learning of civilizations of China and Saudi Arabia.
The attendees at the meeting pointed out that in the past three years, the Library Branch has made steady progress in infrastructure construction, service development, and cultural activities. The King Abdulaziz Public Library hopes to strengthen cooperation with Peking University to further develop the Library Branch and promote information and resource sharing, as well as academic and cultural exchanges. In this way the Library Branch can work as a center and platform for promoting youth friendship between China and Saudi Arabia, which can enable China to carry out Arab cultural studies and foster cultural exchanges and mutual learning.
The Council highly recognized the 2020 work summary done by the Library Branch and approved the 2021 work plan (including cultural activities plan), the 2021 budget, and the appointment of Zhang Meiping as deputy branch director (Chinese). There were also discussions on cultural exchange programs between China and Arab states amidst the epidemic. Numerous constructive opinions and suggestions were put forward, which clarified the future development direction of the Library Branch.
Since its official operation on March 30, 2018, the Library Branch has been committed to introducing Chinese and Arab civilizations and cultures, and to strengthening cultural exchanges between the two countries. It enriches the literary resources of Arabic language, literature and culture at Peking University and contributes to the development of relevant disciplines, academic research and talent cultivation.
