Rotary Club honors veterans during annual Heroes Day in May

The Rotary Club of Stow & Munroe Falls held its ninth annual Heroes Day on May 14. Club members, with help from Stow-Munroe Falls High School Interact Club, prepared 194 flower arrangement for veterans in local nursing homes. Each arrangement included a card and a coaster.

With the assistance of students from the Stow-Munroe Falls High School Interact Club, the Rotary Club of Stow & Munroe Falls put together 194 flower arrangements for area veterans in nursing homes in honor of Heroes Day.

This year, the Rotary Club of Stow & Munroe Falls held its ninth annual Heroes Day in May program for local veterans, retired firefighters and police officers from the cities of Stow and Munroe Falls.

A total of 194 flower arrangements were put together to honor veterans in local nursing homes, along with local police and fire retirees.  With the assistance of the students from the Stow-Munroe Falls High School Interact Club, the Rotary Club was able to put together a nice flower arrangement for each veteran.

On Saturday, May 14, Rotary Club members set out throughout the community to make their deliveries with hopes to brighten the morning of local veteran who served their community and country.  Due to health concerns, the club members were not able to meet with the veterans personally.

A banner has also been placed outside of City Hall to honor those who have served.

The month of May was chosen for this program because it includes Memorial Day, National EMS Week and Peace Officer Memorial Day.
