Latest Basking Ridge Coronavirus Updates: 60 Cases, 1 Death

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township now has one deaths and 60 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus as of Monday, according to Somerset County. The new coronavirus outbreak in New Jersey and across the nation is having vast impacts in Basking Ridge, including the closure of schools and many businesses.

The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures and closures continue to be announced.

As of Monday, there are a total of 902 cases and 31 deaths in Somerset County.

New Jersey had 3,663 new cases and 86 more deaths on Monday. The numbers marked the second day in a row that the numbers were much lower than the outbreak's worst day on Saturday. This brings the state's total to 41,090 cases and 1,003 deaths.

BUSINESSES

Many restaurants in Basking Ridge are now offering expanded or first time delivery service, special take out, and pick-up services as social distancing is encouraged amid new coronavirus concerns. MORE

The Basking Ridge Business Alliance (BRBA) launched "Basking Ridge Together" to support businesses in and around Bernards Township during the challenges of the new coronavirus. MORE.

As of Tuesday, individual appointments to view real estate with realtors by individuals or families shall be considered essential retail business. Open houses are still not allowed.

Firearms retailers are permitted to operate by appointment only and during limited hours to conduct business which must be done in person under the law.

SCHOOL

All schools in Bernards Township will remain closed through at least April 17 in response to the new coronavirus outbreak, state officials said. MORE.

Visitors will no longer be allowed at RWJ University Hospital Somerset except under special circumstances to protect the health of patients and staff amid new coronavirus concerns. MORE.
