SOMERSET, N.J. — Kas Rugs is covering the New York Home Fashions Market with “a little bit of everything.”

Tailoring its assortments for its mass merchant customers shopping market this week, the company is presenting an array of area rug styles, from updated traditional to natural fiber hand-woven to machine-made polyester qualities, said Wendy Reiss, vice president of sales and national accounts.

A highlight this season is the Ashton collection, which Reiss said represents “an updated traditional look in wonderful spring colors.” Machine woven and cross woven of space dyed polyester, these rugs are very soft and lend themselves to a broader palette, such as the Spring Green Lara design or the Sky Blue colorway.

“Traditional have not been part of the wave of what has been happening in rugs lately. We’ve seen more transitional and contemporary looks for a while now,” she said. “But traditionals always sell, and by updating the designs and colors, we’re able to offer something fresh and bright and pretty for spring after a dull winter.”

For the modern-minded shopper, Kas is introducing Luna, a collection of polyester woven rugs featuring metallic highlights across five simple linear and geometric patterns.

To the hand-woven category, Kas is adding the new Morris collection. Its natural jute and polyester chindi construction give a color kick to these flat-woven rugs in vibrant distressed printed patterns.

“The look is eclectic and fun to show with modern and antique and bohemian trends,” Reiss noted.

And making an appearance this week to Kas Rugs’ New York showroom — located in suite 819 at 295 Fifth Avenue — will be designer partner Libby Langdon to promote her growing line of indoor and outdoor area rugs.

“New York Home Fashions Market is a great market for us, where we can meet with regional customers and our big-box retailers,” Reiss summed. “It is where we have our smallest showroom. But we come very focused and with a lot to offer. We have a little bit of everything, from scatters to area rugs in different looks and constructions.”
